INTRODUCTION: This report is in line with the project conducted by the Commission on Human Rights Region I (CHR-RO1) on the Situation of Women Fisher folks and Women and Girls at Risk of Trafficking and other forms of GBV during the Covid-19 Pandemic in partnership with Barangay Samara, Aringay, La Union, Philippines. Last September 10, 2020, a key informant interview (KII) was conducted with 15 participants who are residents of the said barangay. During the program, an overview of the activity was conducted and the interview Guide for the Women fisher folks and Women and Girls at Risk of trafficking and other forms of GBV during the Covid-19 pandemic and new normal was presented and explained to the participants. OBJECTIVES OF THE CONDUCT OF KEY INFORMANT INTERVIEW (KII) WOMEN FISHER FOLKS AND WOMEN AND GIRLS AT RISK OF TRAFFICKING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC As the gender Ombud in the Region, the conduct of the Key Informant interview (KII) in re: Women Fisher folk and Women and Girls at Risk of Trafficking during Covid-19 Pandemic have the following objectives: (1) To render visible and document the roles and tasks undertaken by women fisher folks in the household and in the community; (2) To monitor the implementation of MCW provision on women fisher folks by looking at: women’s roles, economic participation and recognition, access to information, resources and food production; Experiences of marginalization, discrimination; Gender Based Violence; (3) To document the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Women fisher folks; (4) To document awareness of and availment by women fisher folks of government programs in response to COVID-19; (5) To gather recommendations from the ground. ELABORATION OF THE PROCESS FOLLOWED BY THE TEAM As to the process that was followed, the CHR Regional Office I first coordinated with Punong Barangay Gil B. Gatchalian and other barangay officials of Barangay Samara, Aringay, La Union to conduct an activity that particularly aims to know the situations of women fisher folks and women and girls at risk of trafficking and other forms of GBV during COVID-19 and new normal. To facilitate the manner of research, the CHR RO1 came up with six (6) key informant interviewers headed by Atty. Anna Leah Romero (Attorney V, CHR-RO1) together with Atty. Mhelanie C. William (Attorney IV, CHR-RO1), Mr. Danilo T. Balino (Information Officer III), Ms. Celia M. Quedado (Information Officer II), Ms. Ellen Acosta (documentator/coordinator), and Ms. Nikka Ramos (documentator/coordinator). The coordinators of this activity also created a plan and implemented security measures to ensure the safety of the participants prior, during, and after the conduct of the activity. 3 | Page
