Situation of Women Fisher Folks’ Family during Covid-19 Pandemic In terms of the situation of the family of women fisher folks in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, a great majority (87%) of them confirmed that there were changes. Moreover, this is a clear manifestation that women fisher folks and their family are undoubtedly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic until now. Connecting to this is the statement of Respondent F which confirmed that there were changes with regards to their task in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic as she said “Nag-online selling ang ikat-long anak ko” (My 3rd child sell online) In addition, Respondent D also stated “Walang trabaho yong asawa at anak ko. Kumikita lang ako sa pananahi ko at pagtitinda ng isda”. ( My husband and son have no job. I only earm through sewing and selling of fish) On the other hand, Respondent C said “Parehas din pero kontikonti lang kasi dati may pwesto kami sa Baguio sa talipapa sa may Irisan ngayon wala na kasi bawal pa” ( It‟s still the same but only few becacause before I have a stall at Baguio in the market of Irisa but now I can‟t because it is still prohibited) ECONOMIC PARTICIPATION AND RECOGNITION The second indicator in the key informant interview is about the economic participation and recognition which deals with the status of women fisher folks in their community and the organization they are involved. Recognized Members in the field of fishing The great majority (67%) of the women fisher folks that was interviewed did not answer when asked who are the recognized members in the field of fishing in their community. While many (33%) of the women fisher folks said that they were also recognized in the community. This can indicate that women who are into small-scale fishing are also part of the fisher folks in 10 | Page
