CHR Region I as the Gender Ombud in the Ilocos Region (Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La
Union, and Pangasinan) carries out the mandates of women’s human rights promotion,
protection, monitoring, and gender ombud policy advisories. For the period of July to
December, 2020, the CHR-ROI has:

For the months of July to December 2020, this Office assisted a total of 489 walk-in
Clients, 227 of whom are Males while 262 of whom are Females. Said Clients availed the free
legal counseling/ assistance being offered by this Office. Most of the problems referred by these
Clients are as follows: (1) Land Conflict/ Property Dispute/ Alleged Violation of the Right to
Property which includes Ejectment Cases and Agrarian Cases; (2) Right to Life which includes
Physical Injuries, Homicide, and Murder Cases that was filed against them or to their loved ones;
(3) Possible filing of Violation of R.A. 9262 or the “Anti-Violence Against Women and Their
Children Act”; (4) Child Custody and Child Support; (5) For follow-up of the cases filed against
