ACCESS TO INFORMATION, RESOURCES AND FOOD PRODUCTION The third indicator in the key informant interview is about the access to information, resources and food production that deals with the knowledge of the women fisher folks about their rights and privileges. Awareness of the Women Fisher folks on their different benefits and Magna Carta of Women Most (73%) of the women fisher folks are not aware of the benefits stated in the law which they can avail. This implies that most of them were not able to avail any of the benefits provided by the law. In addition, a women fisher folk stated “Ngayon ko lang po alam ma’am” (I was only informed today). On the other hand, few (27%) of the women interviewed were able to avail some of the benefits. This implies that few of the women fisherfolks were able to avail some of the benefits because they are aware of the benefits they could get from the government. Respondent P said she have a little knowledge about the rights and benefits allocated by the government for the fisherfolks. Moreover, a great majority (67%) of women that were interviewed were not aware of their rights. This implies that they have not heard or read any of the rights that protect them from any human rights violations. In support is the statement of Respondent C where she said “Hindi ko po alam ma’am. Ngayon ko lang po nalaman” (I‟ „am not aware ma‟am. I‟am only informed today) Meanwhile, other women fisher folks are familiar with their rights stated under Magna Carta of Women. This reveals that many (13%) of them were able to read or attend seminar that talks about Magna Carta of Women. This implies that many of the women fisherfolks had the opportunity to hear, read or informed about the Magna Carta of Women. Respondent B stated “Mayroon konti lang, narinig hindi nabasa” (There are few. I heard, not read) and Respondent E said “Hindi po familiar parang narinig lang sa seminar”. (I „am not familiar but I seem to have heard at a seminar) 16 | Page
