Members who are also Fisher Folks In terms of the family members who are also fisher folks, many (33%) of them are the only fisher folk in their family. This implies that many of them were not influenced by their husbands but they were able to learn to fish in order for them to make a living. Supporting to this is the statement of Respondent D where as she stated “Mag-isa ko lang ma’am na mangingisda saamin, nagdedeliver ako ng order sa bahay bahay o kaya minsan pag may nag-order saakin” (I „am the only fisherman in the family, I deliver their ordered fish through house to house or some times when there are orders) Moreover, many (27%) of their husband and with the same number with their child are also in the field of fishing. This implies that they are a family of fishermen which serve as their livelihood. In addition, Respondent E stated “Oo dating fisherman ang asawa ko pero pinahihinto na kasi matanda na turning 75 na”. (My husband is a fisherman before but was advised to stop because he‟s old already, he‟s turning 75 years old) She also mentioned that his three (3) sons are fishermen and their income ranges from 500-4500. In addition, 13% of the women fisherfolks said that both of their husband and children are fishermen. This implies that their family sustain their basic needs thru fishing. In line with the result is the statement of Respondent B where she stated "Yong asawa at anak ko nasa pangingisda din, paminsan-minsan sa ilog. Nasa 200-2000 ang kinikita" (My husband and my child are fishermen too, sometimes in the river. They earn 200-2000 pesos) Furthermore, majority (54%) of them goes to the sea to catch fish, a few (13%) of them sell fish at the market and within their barangay. Meanwhile, many (33%) of their husband or son are not fishermen but either a construction worker, a carpenter or an OFW. In line with this is the statement of Respondent D, “Yong asawa ko ma’am carpenter, yong anak ko naman ma’am nagtratrabaho sa contruction, laborer” (My husband ma‟am is a carpenter while my son is working at a construction site, he is a laborer) She also stated “ Yong anak ko nasa 8 | Page
