Before the scheduled research interview, the coordinators were furnished a copy of the
necessary reading materials and Interview Guide Questionnaires. A meeting was also conducted
to remind the important points to the coordinators in the conduct of Research Interviews as well
as the vital role of each coordinator.
THE CONDUCT OF KEY INFORMANT INTERVIEW (KII)
The key informant interview (KII) started at 8:30 am with the registration of the
participants where they followed proper social distancing and wearing of face mask and face
shield. After the registration it was followed by the invocation and acknowledgement of the
participants led by Ms. Celia Quedado, Information Officer II of CHR-RO1. After which, Mr.
Danilo T. Balino Information Officer III, serving as emcee of the activity, called Ms. Lilia M.
Aquino, Fist Kagawad of Barangay Samara, to do the welcome message on behalf of their
Punong Barangay. In her welcome message, she encouraged her fellow women fisher folks to
fully support and cooperate with the said activity. She also expressed her appreciation for those
who attended and joined the said activity. Moreover, she mentioned that the activity will be a big
help for the betterment and development of the situation of the women fisher folks in their
Barangay.
Furthermore, Atty. Anna Leah T. Romero, Attorney V of CHRRO1 presented the
overview of the activity. According to her, CHR initiated the conduct of the KII on Women
Fisher folks and Women and Girls at Risk of Trafficking during the Covid-19 Pandemic with the
aims to establish a baseline pertaining to the roles and participation of women in small scale
fishing, and of the issues of women fisher folks including trafficking and GBV, implementation
of MCW provisions on women fisher folks, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic; as well
as to gather regional data on women fisher folks and GBV during COVID-19 Pandemic and the
new normal, creating partnership with communities and CSOs, and strengthening CHR regional
office’s situation monitoring on women in the marginalized sectors as gender Ombud in their
respective regions.
Atty. Anna Leah T. Romero and company then proceeded with the conduct of the key
informant interview (KII) to 15 women fisher folks and to their Punong Barangay Gatchalian,
service provider. The interviewers first ask the participants for their consent by accomplishing
the Consent Forms which were provided.
After the interview proper, the team thanked the participants and assured them that the
data they gathered are confidential and will be used with utmost confidentiality. The team also
awarded a certificate of appreciation to the Punong Barangay of Barangay Samara, Mr. Gil B.
Gatchalian, for his cooperation and dedication. Then, Atty. Mhelanie C. William led the closing
message where she expressed her gratitude to the participants who attended the activity despite
