A video which was posted on Facebook went viral alleging that P/B Manuel A. Co, Barangay
Captain of Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City slapped his/her mother who is a member of the
elderly sector. The descendant of the senior citizen-victim also alleged that the said barangay
captain made an offensive utterance wishing that her family should all die and be infected by
COVID-19.
According to the video post, the mother went to the barangay in order to report what was
happening in their barangay but the senior citizen-victim was instead threatened and was
physically hurt by the said barangay captain. The CHR Gender Equality and Women's Human Rights
Center referred the case to CHR-NCR for investigation.
