GBV CASE IN REGION IV
A 29-year-old woman, who is a member of Formal Economy Worker sector
and a COVID-19 patient was being discriminated by their Homeowners
Association President. The victim’s cousin coursed through the Commission on
Human Rights’ Gender-Based Violence Online Portal and reported the said GBV
case. According to the victim’s cousin, the said HOA President aggressively
communicated with the Barangay Health Officer to disclose information
pertaining the victim. Consequently, their family is being harassed through text
messages and chats.
The victim’s cousin sought legal assistance in filing case/legal counselling
from the Commission. On June 8, 2020, the CHR Gender Equality and Women
Human Rights Center (GEWHRC) referred the case to CHR Region IV for proper
investigation.
