reproductive health as culled out from various reports consulted for the situationer.
Status of Filipino Women
Population
The estimated population of the Philippines as of July 2015 is 100,998,437. The annual population
growth rate is 1.70 percent. There is an almost equal number of males and females in the country,
with the gender ratio being 1:1.01; only in NCR and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao
(ARMM), were there are more females than males.
The median age of the population is 24.3 years old, indicating a generally young population. The
largest population group are the 0 to 4 years olds and the 5 to 9 years olds. There are more males in
the 0-54 years old category, while there are more women than men aged 55 years old and above.

In terms of civil status, there is almost an equal number of single (43.90%) and legally married
(40.90%) people in the country. Common-law partnerships is at 9.10 percent. This is followed by
widow/ers (4.5%) and separated people (1.5%).
The average houshold size in 2015 is 4.40 persons which was lower from the 2010 figure of 4.60
persons. The overall dependency ratio in the country was 58 for every 100 persons, which was also
lower than the 2010 figure of 60 per 100 persons. The dependency ratio included both the child and
old (senior citizens) dependents.
