6. Conclusion
While the efforts of the Philippine government to guarantee protection of women migrant workers,
especially migrant domestic workers have been well-intentioned, these efforts fall short of the actual
protection and empowerment of women migrants because for most of them, migration is one out of
necessity. It is a result of the circumstances surrounding individuals and their families. Furthermore, it
must be taken into consideration how forced migration will impact female migrant workers who are
willing to keep their job at any cost to their finances, their physical and mental health, their families, and
their own safety. Unless the root causes of migration are addressed by the Philippine government,
migration will continue to be one out of necessity and will be seen as the only viable option.
