CHR-III-2020-0083 For: Violation of RA 9262 This is a motu-proprio investigation pertaining to a viral video on the alleged physical abuse committed by a Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel to his live-in partner and his stepson. When the victim was interviewed, she affirmed the physical abuse committed by her live-in partner. At that time, the perpetrator was already detained. Under the facts, the victims were physically abused, thus, constitutes a human rights violation. A case for violation of RA 9262 otherwiseknown as the “Antiviolence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004” against Roel Gatos was filed before the RTC, Branch 9, Malolos City, Bulacan with Criminal Case No. 2461-M-2020. The amount of Php 30, 000.00 as financial assistance was granted to the victims. 3. CHR-III-2020-0236 For: Violation of RA 9262 This case was referred by the CHAD, Central Office on the alleged maltreatment and abuses of a wife against her husband who is a retired military officer. The victim disclosed that the VAWC case filed by her last 2009 before the RTC, Branch 26, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. She claimed that she was often beaten by her husband every time he was drunk and that she was banned to get inside their house every time she comes back from work. She further claimed that she was forced to stop from work as security lady guard at Nueva Ecija Pacific Mall. Her assertions of physical abuses were supported by medical certificates. 16
