celebratory events as well as Information and Education Campaigns (IECs) on laws relating
to women and children and other gender-related discussions. Further, it can also be seen
in their accomplishment data on reported GBV cases on trafficking of children and women,
VAWC cases and counseling of VAWC clients, and financial assistance rendered.
As for the report from the Regional Philippine National Police (Regional Focal on Women
and Children‘s Desk), was able to provide us with data on the GBV cases during the height
of COVID-19 in the Region covering the period March 15-April 20, 2020, to wit;

The regional PNP is proactive in their interventions especially during this pandemic as
reflected on their report regarding the protection of women and children from all forms of
abuses, violence and exploitation by using the following;1
a) Maximum use of social media for posting/sharing of gendersensitive and child friendly information on COVID-19 related risk and
protection, including the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse,
hotline numbers and how to safely report incidents of GBV and support
services for GBV victims;
b) Ensures that WCPD personnel and first responders are available to
receive complainants/reports of incidents;
