There are also repetitive cases about VAW incidents. The BLGU
of Pasonanca with the supervision of the barangay Focal Person
for VAW prescribes or suggests counseling to the victims and
suspects of the incidents. The Local government unit updates
and checks the after situation of the complainants and
respondents.
But then if the cases are unbearable by the BLGU of Pasonanca it
will be referred to the higher court.
Description on Data Collection Process
Each case was interviewed and observed for 2-3 visits, as most often the
survivors did not speak up on the first visit (Introductory) but on the
second and/or third visits (familiarization and trust-building). In some
instances, the husbands or partners had stern receptions and indirectly
hampered the research. In few cases, the respondents spoke with the halo
effect, in which they confidently show off their knowledge on the Anti-VAW
Law as per taught by the Barangay authorities, most often identified as the
Barangay VAW Focal Person.
The data in Table 1 shows the distribution of respondents who displayed
knowledge on the Anti-VAW Law or Republic Act No. 6292. By having
been “told”, means the woman has been informed through an information
material that may be a leaflet, brochure, booklet, ore ven poster or
tarpaulin, or through a symposium or any other gathering.
