have a family that would help me on what should be done and in which
case, I am also confident that I can approach autorities to further my steps
against his inflicting [on me] of pain). ”
If the incident will occur again she would have the courage to file a case for
herself especially for the well-being of her children.
“Lalaban na ako if gagawin niya ulit pero observe ko naman na hindi na
siya tulad noon na mabilis magalit. Siguro natuto naman na siya (I will
already fight back if he will commit [the violence] again but I have also
observed that he is already unlike before when he easily gets angry.
Perhaps he already learned).”
She was able to report the first incident where she thought that she should
done that to stop her husband from hurting her.
Asked if she would file a case of VAW against him as a woman S12 stated
“Depende siguro kung sinasaktain pa rin ako, kasi ngayon parang nagbago
na siya, simula nang naisumbong ko siya sa barangay. Parang natauhan
na hindi dapat sinsaktan ang mga babae at masaya naman ako sa resulta
(It depends maybe if I am still hurt, because now he has reformed, since I
reported him to the barangay. It is as if he was awakened that women
should not be hurt, and am also happy with the results).”
Researchers’ Observations: S12 has been psychologically and emotionally
abused by the mother-in-law, and physically and psychologically abused by
the partner himself. The act of tolerating the parental interference has
been hurting her, as she gets scolded from time to time and whenever she
cried and tried to tell her husband about it, he would be more angry.
Analysis: S12 is in need of more assurance that the law is behind her, and
that her relationship needs moral support otherwise the verbal abuse is
doubled: from her partner and from her mother-in-law who also treats low
of her.
Survivor 13
S13 is from Tumaga, who has been living with her partner for 29 years and
they have children aged 30 and 20 years old. She cannot recall when the
first incident of violence she experience but that was a long time ago. He
slapped, boxed in any part of the body and verbally abused her because of
anger.
Before, every time the incident happen she thinks that it is too much that
caused her pain.
