The victim sought legal assistance from the Commission. CHR-NCR and
Gender Equality and Women’s Human Rights Center (GEWHRC) currently assisted
the victim for proper investigation of the case within the Commission. Legal
processes such as subpoena was already served to the said Barangay Captain.
Accordingly, the victim will also be assisted by the Commission in filing of criminal
action for violation of City Ordinance pertaining to anti-discrimination against
COVID-19 patients/PUI/PUM and for a crime of arbitrary detention under the
Revised Penal Code. Second week of June 2020, and through the assistance of
the Commission, a criminal complaint was already filed against the Barangay
Captain.
