SCORING FOR EXPOSURE The exposure factors used in the Fish Vool are the frequency and degree of exposure of the fishing grounds, household, and community to weather disturbances. Each of these exposure factors are scored relative to the information generated from the questionnaire given to the key informants. Scores range from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest exposure and 5 being the highest exposure. Table 3. Exposure Rubrics for Scoring SCORE CRITERIA LOW MEDIUM HIGH (1-2) (3-4) 5 Fishing ground (annual occurrence) Rare occurrence of weather disturbances 0-1 (1); 2 (2) Intermediate occurrence of weather disturbances 3-4 (3); 5-6 (4) Frequent occurrence of weather disturbances (more than 6) Household (annual occurrence) Rare occurrence of weather disturbances or weather related incidence 0-1 (1); 2 (2) Intermediate occurrence of weather disturbances or climate related incidence 3-4 (3); 5-6 (4) Frequent occurrence of weather disturbances and climate related incidence (more than 6) Community (Annual occurrence) Rare occurrence of weather disturbances or climate related incidence 0-1 (1); 2 (2) Intermediate occurrence of weather disturbances or climate related incidence 3-4 (3); 5-6 (4) Frequent occurrence of weather disturbances and climate related incidence (more than 6) Fishing ground: This criterion examines the frequency and severity of exposure of fishing ground to extreme weather disturbances (typhoon, storm, El Nino) in a given year. 0-1 occurrence of a weather disturbance that hits the fishing ground is given a score of 1 and a score of 2 is given if the fishing ground has been hit twice.
