PROFILE OF BORONGAN CITY, SALCEDO, and ORAS, EASTERN SAMAR Borongan is a coastal component city in the province of Eastern Samar. It serves as the provincial capital. The city has a land area of 475.00 square kilometers or 183.40 square miles which constitutes 10.19% of Eastern Samar's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 69,297. This represented 14.83% of the total population of Eastern Samar province, or 1.56% of the overall population of the Eastern Visayas region. Salcedo is a coastal municipality in the province of Eastern Samar. This represented 4.82% of the total population of Eastern Samar province, or 0.51% of the overall population of the Eastern Visayas region. Oras is a 4th class coastal municipality in the province of Eastern Samar in Region VIII (Eastern Visayas). Oras has a land area of 188.70 square kilometers or 72.86 square miles constituting 4.05% of the total area of Eastern Samar. Oras is politically subdivided into forty-two (42) barangays. The population of Oras as determined by the 2015 Census was 36,540 representing 7.82% of the total population of Eastern Samar province, or 0.82% of the overall population of Eastern Visayas region. It has a population density of 194 inhabitants per square kilometer or 502 inhabitants per square mile.
