3 (By 11:00 in the evening, rains were pouring continuously, flood was rising quickly. As a precautionary measure, my husband and I gathered our children including my daughter and her family who were living next to our house. We evacuated to a one-storey, semi-concrete house owned by a friendly neighbor. Other relatives were also there. We climbed to the rooftop one at a time. I thought we have escaped from the deadly flood. I thought we have sought refuge from danger not until the huge log lashed the house where we were staying. Having a weak foundation, the house later collapsed and we were swept, dispersed, and immersed to the ravaging mud flood. (Everyone cried for help, but we cannot hear each other’s voice because strong winds blew our cries away. I saved my niece’s daughter, but she was drowned later. I tried to find others, but I can see nothing; it was totally blackout. I can only hear the strong current of the mud flood. I cannot swim because there were several logs along with the flood.) (After hours of struggling and I think that was 5:00 in the morning, floodwaters carried me to the bayside of Brgy. Canaway which is far from Bayug Island. I saw some flashes of light near the ocean. I prayed to God to let the water wave to the bayside. As I got nearer, I can see some people and asked for help. They were ordinary residents trying to help others. The moment they have saved me, that was also the time I got weaker and weaker until I passed out.) (I was brought in E&R Hospital. When I regained my consciousness, that was the time I recalled that I have been struggling for my life for hours. I immediately asked assistance to the hospital to call my family. My two sons and sister finally came.)
