22 - Integrating Climate into our Strategy
Our Production Mix for 2035
A Target Consistent
with the 2°C Scenario
Integrating climate issues into our strategy goes beyond reducing emissions
at our facilities. It also involves gradually decreasing the carbon intensity1
of our production mix. We take the 2°C scenario into account in our strategy.
To do this, we compare the change in the carbon intensity of our projected
growth profile for primary energy production to the change in carbon intensity
under the 2°C scenario, on a like-for-like energy basis (coal, oil, gas, solar,
wind power and biofuels).
The carbon intensity of our primary energy production mix is the ratio between:
- CO2 emissions across the entire life cycle of products, limited to the year in question if necessary
- primary energy production related to these products during the year in question.
We express carbon intensity in kgCO2/toe of primary energy.
