3.3. CROSS TABULATION TO GET OVERALL VULNERABILITY Cross-tabulation is done through relating two parameters together to obtain a rating for the desired value. The desired value can be determined by locating the intersection of the column and row from the parameters identified in the topmost row and leftmost column. Table 10. Cross-table for Potential Impact (Exposure x Sensitivity) POTENTIAL IMPACT Table 11. Cross-table for Vulnerability (Potential Impact x Adaptive Capacity) VULNERABILITY ADAPTIVE CAPACITY L M H L L L M M L M H H M H H POTENTIAL IMPACT EXPOSURE SENSITIVITY L M H L M L L M H M L H H H M Note that in getting the overall vulnerability consider first integrating the sensitivity and exposure to yield potential impact. Once the potential impact is determined, it is then integrated to adaptive capacity to obtain the vulnerability rating. a.) Cross-tabulation between Sensitivity and Exposure for Potential Impact Potential impact is an indicating factor in determining how the area or a system is affected by the impacts of climate change. Low, medium and high scales of potential impact suggest the increasing degree of its effect on the area or in the system. Thus, it is essential to determine the potential impact first before obtaining the vulnerability. In doing so, sensitivity rank is integrated with that of exposure rank to yield the measurement of potential impact through performing cross-tabulation approach. The process in obtaining the potential impact is demonstrated in figure 10 and figure 11. POTENTIAL IMPACT POTENTIAL IMPACT SENSITIVITY L M H L L M M L M H H M H H L Figure 10.
