Survivor 26
S26 is from Sta. Maria, who has been married for 10 years but separated
for 2 years. She has children aged 6, 12 and 8 years old. The first incident
when she experienced the violence was on June of 2017. She recalled that
her ex-husband was under the influence of illegal drugs, then got angry
and boxed her. She was physically and emotionally abused by her exhusband. She has being shamed before anyone for the reason that he was
not able to go home early and she has threatened with being left or
abandoned for another woman. He was scolded or fought by his parents
and relatives but, nothing happened.
“S’yempre nasasaktan ako at gusto na mawala na siya sa buhay ko (Of
course I was hurt and I wanted him out of my life).”
“Kaya ko na maghiwalay kami dahil wala naman siya naitulong sa amin ng
mga anak niya (I was able to bear it because he could not help me and his
children).”
She never felt alone because she knows there were barangay authorities or
police that would help her and she would have courage when the incident
might happen again because what he was doing to her was not right.
“Pumunta ako ng barangay para tawagin siya na magbigay ng sustento sa
mga anak ko at sinumbong ko na may nakita akong may kasama syang
ibang babae (I went to the barangay that he may be called that he may give
support and I reported that he has been seen with another woman).”
Asked if she would file a case against him for VAW being a woman, S26
stated “Si, pero habla mi nana deja ya lang cay caya man tambien mi nana
