Analysis: S6 is a victim/survivor of verbal violence, with her partner of two decades at the least. She knows her rights but there are times she weakens to her husband’s tone and volume of voice and continually submissively subjects herself to the partner’s control and dominance. Survivor 7 S7 is from Pasonanca, She has been living with her partner without the benefit of marriage. They have two children: an 8-year old and a 12-year old. She can no longer recall the specific date or month when the first incident of the violence happened to her, however she experienced being physically abused when her partner slapped her on the side and arm. Financially her husband supports them. She was threatened not to report the incident “baka saktan niya ako ulit” and scolded her “Bien tanga vos! (You’re so dumb!)” S7 wondered if she should take him to the barangay but she stated, “Inisip ko ang aking anak kaya nanatili pa rin ako (I thought of my children which is why I’m still staying [with him]).” Sometimes she would think that she was alone but her parents gave her the courage to report the incident and also the advice from barangay helped out. S7 would have the courage to report her partner if he does it again. “Opo, dahil alam ko na ngayon tumutulong na sa akin ang barangay at para matakot na siya na hindi na uulitin at hindi na ako masaktan pa (Yes, because now I know that the barangay is helping me and to scare him and he wouldn’t do it again and I wouldn’t be hurt again).” S7 did not report the first incident of violence and stated, “Kasi akala ko sa una lang yun at baka magbago siya. At inisip ko ang mga anak ko na baka hindi sila makapag-aral dahil tinakot nya ako na tigilan ang suporta pag nagsumbong (Because I thought it was only at the start, and that he might just change.
