education). The training package developed in the context of this programme consists of 10 Modules
of which “Module 5: Gender Sensitivity” includes the principles of the Convention on the Elimination
of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The training package was digitalized and reproduced
in 2005. Ghana has four master trainers that have graduated from the regional “Guidance and
Counselling” programme.
Fellowships
3 fellowships were granted to women from Ghana, representing a sum of $19,880. Fields of study
include: communication, television documentary programme production and, educational planning
and administration. Two co-sponsored fellowships UNESCO/Republic of Korea IPDC and, one
regular Programme.

Ratification of the Convention Against Discrimination in Education
Jamaica has ratified the UNESCO Convention against Discrimination in Education (16/03/2006).

Education Sector
The Jamaican government and civil society support the development and implementation of effective
policies and programmes for EFA. In addition, they support the improvement of quality and equity in
