Chapter II
Methodology
Just like any research, this chapter is presented in a way that the reader
understands the methodological process done in this study, that the reader
may assess the quality of the research, interpret the findings and
hopefully, other researchers may find interest in replicating this study.
Research Design and Research Locale
This is a descriptive study employing mixed methods. The quantitative
method enables the study to have a tabular method of presenting
numerical data, while qualitative approavhes enable the study to present
information from discussions, observations, verbatim data from
respondents’ narratives.
The research was conducted in Zamboanga City, specifically, (1) at the
Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO);
(2) at the Department of Social
Welfare and Development (DSWD)
Regional Office 9; (3) at the DSWD
Women’s Crisis Center; (4) in five
barangays, namely, Tumaga, San
Roque, Santa Maria, Mercedes, and
Pasonanca; and (5) in the office of
Maven Media Asia (see Fig. 2).
The aforementioned barangays are
communities that have been identified
as the barangays that had the highest
incidents and/or cases on VAW in the
year 2019, per report of the ZCPO’s
Women and Child Protection Desk
(WCPD).
