“Ire-report ko na talaga pag ulitin. Dapat tayong pahalagahan kasi hindi
dapat saktan ng asawa dahil masyado na nila tayong sinasaktan. Dapat na
siguro din tayong lumaban (I will really report if he repeats [the violence].
We should also be valued because we are not supposed to be hurt by our
husbads because they are hurting too much).”
Asked if she would file a case of VAW against him as a woman S14 stated
“’Pag gawin niya ulit msgfile na talaga ako at gagawa na siguro ako ng
desisyon kung hihiwalay ba ako o kailangan na bang wakasan lahat ng
paghihirap ko di lang sa pisikalan pati sa emosyonal na sakit (If he does it
again I will really file [a case] and maybe decide to separate with him or I
need to end all my hardship in the physical [quarrels] and even the
emotional pains).”
Researchers’ Observations: S14 is too emotional but is insecure and rages
with jealousy, a cause for their frequent quarrels. Being jobless, and
childless, she is most often idle and her husband gets annoyed with her
nagging.
Analysis: The responses of S14 manifest her own treatment to her
husband as a cause for their frequent quarrels. Added to this, she
admitted that her nagging was always his complaint. His defense per her
admission is on her allegation of the existence of a third party was a query
on who wouldn’t be interested in another with such a nagging wife. Based
on the responses, there is a lack of communication between the couple
except throuh the acts of violence in response to the excessive verbal
attacks hurled at the husband.
Survivor 15

and threatened to kill her at the same time insulted her mother. She also
experienced being slapped in the face, kicked her in the side of her
stomach without thinking that she could be pregnant, shouted at her and
verbally degraded her.
“Ya pensa yo, porque ba yo yan patol con ete gente, ta bombia mujer (I was
thinking, why did I pay attention to this man, he hits a woman.”
“Uno lang mi anak, siempre, con ele gat yo ta pensa. Pa que laya ya lang si
queda grande cavar engranda le no hay tata (I only have one child,
certainly, my thoughts will be of him. How would his future be if he grow
up with out a father?)”
