fishing wharfs in barangay Cawit, Zamboanga City were selected as
study sites (Fig. 1) on the basis of data availability and productivity
of tuna and sardine resource in the area, respectively. Fish production in General Santos mainly consists of large pelagic fishes such
as yellowfin tuna and other scombrids, whereas Zamboanga City
is well known for the production of small epipelagic fishes (i.e.,
sardines, round scads, and mackerels).
