(b) Set out whether their laws comply with the principles of articles 9, 15 and 16 and
where, by reason of religious or private law or custom, compliance with the law or with the
Convention is impeded.
Legislation
49. States parties should, where necessary to comply with the Convention, in particular in
order to comply with articles 9, 15 and 16, enact and enforce legislation.
Encouraging compliance with the Convention
50. Assisted by the comments in the present general recommendation, and as required by
articles 2, 3 and 24, States parties should introduce measures directed at encouraging full
compliance with the principles of the Convention, particularly where religious or private law or
custom conflict with those principles.
